Why do we need a school holiday adventure program when you can do all of these activities for free own your own???
The answer to this is concealed in another question: when did you last go for a jog with your 6 year old? When did you take out a boogie board and play in the whitewater with your 10 year old? Have you ever had a hit of tennis with your 13 year old?
My best guess is no (or never). That is not a criticism. Our lives are busy and we are honestly doing our best for our families, often at our own expense.
The other answer to this question is that it creates opportunity to exercise and play in a situation where parents (especially mums) are often denied that opportunity. For example, our boogie boarding session might be possible for a mum and one of their kids, but not if they also have a 3 or 4 year old! A parent might love to learn how to mountain bike, but how are they going to achieve this with a 2 and 5 year old in tow??
The School Holiday Adventure Program is an OPPORTUNITY! Not only do we include and provide extra supervision for the kids, we are planning sessions that both the parent and the child will be exercising. We will wear the two of you out at the same time; and no one sits on the sidelines!
Also, don’t underestimate the significance of spending quality time together. It sounds like such a cliche, but when a parent and their child has a common interest, it works that same way as the buddies you go for coffee with – it motivation, positive modelling and example, encouragement to be healthy, and mutually beneficial for your relationship.
If you are already on a mountain bike beside your 10 and 15 year olds, or out the back hanging 10, then these sessions probably aren’t for you. However, if you’re a taxi service for your children, or you skip your own training because of them, then these sessions are PERFECT. See what is on offer here! Discounts apply if you enrol before school term ends.
