Hike Nepal Details

For those of you on the fence regarding our Hike Nepal trip, here are some more details! Your due date to RSVP is October 16th. Contact clare@into-you.com.au in the meantime with any questions!

Dates – May 9th – May 23rd. Give or take a day or two either side, for flight availabilities.

Training will be on Saturdays. I will create a calendar event once we have all participants in so that you do not have to remember which week is which!

First training day is Saturday 17th Jan. We will train every Saturday for 4 weeks, and on the 4th week (7th Feb) we will do our full day hike. We will have the 14th OFF (no hiking or catch up what you missed the 4 weeks before). We start another 4 week block on Saturdays from 21st Feb, with the 4th week (14th March) as a full day hike, and the 21st March OFF (or catch up!). Please also remember, if you are doing Coast Trek, that is the 6th March. We then train another block of 4 weeks, with a full weekend on the 18th and 19th April. We will then walk 25th April, and 2nd May, with the 9th OFF. The off week is  for you to rest, or if you missed a week in the previous block, to make up what you missed. If you cannot train on Saturdays, there is no reason why we can’t also get together at another time in the week, or two of you can buddy up.

As a part of this package, you will also have a pin code to access the gym at any time. You will have a program to do 1x weekly in the lead up to the trip, as well as 2-3 walks. These sessions will follow the same pattern as our training above, where we have a week off after every 4wk block. The program will change each block as well. This helps keep interest high, and injuries low. It also gives the busy people an opportunity to make up missed weeks. For those of you who are not based near the gym, we can arrange a skype meeting to go through each program.

Your first and second priorities are good hiking boots and a good daypack (with water bladder). Also consider purchasing some Icebreaker thermals, as they don’t smell, and they dry very quickly. We have received 20% off at the camping store on Collaroy Beach for our trips in the past, and I will be contacting them to arrange it again. Ask for Johnny, and say that Clare from IntoYou sent you. From what I can find regarding May weather, depending on our altitude, it will drop to around 5 degrees at night, and be mid to high 20’sC during the day. IT should be quite comfortable, but bring at least one thick warm jacket and pants for the night time (just in case…!)

Inclusions/Exclusions:

1, Service in Kathmandu and Pokhara

  • Kathmandu Airport pick up and drop.
  • Four night’s deluxe accommodation at Happy Home with BB basis.
  • One nights super deluxe room at Lake View Resort in Pokhara
  • Sightseeing tour in Pokhara

2, During the Trip

  • Domestic flight fare from Kathmandu to and from Pokhara (two ways)
  • One way good van to Kathmandu from Pokhara
  • 3 times of foods (breakfast, lunch and dinner as per your choice at menu items) except alcoholic beverages, bottled, canned soft drinks during the trek.
  • Nice accommodation (nicest of the area) will be provided
  • Permit and conservation Fees NRS 2000 per head.
  • TIMS: 10 $ per person
  • First aid medical kit
  • All Local Taxes.
  • Our Sincere Guide service (I will personally be your guide) and one honest porter (one porter for two people.)
  • All expenses of guide and porter – Salary, food, accommodation, insurance, transportation…

The cost does not include:

  • Foods in Kathmandu and Pokhara except breakfast before and after the trek.
  • Alcoholic beverages and Bottled, canned, soft drinks, during the trek, tour.
  • Needful clothes.
  • Expenses of personal nature (Laundry, tell call etc) and may be donation on the trek.
  • Any medical treatment
  • Buying personal wanted materials, souvenir, gift etc.
  • Tipping

Please arrange your own inoculations (go to the doctor, they will know what you need), and Insurance. Any food and activities whilst in Kathmandu is not included in this package.

Itinerary:

Day 01, = Arrival Day:

We meet upon arrival at the Kathmandu International Airport and transfer to Hotel Happy Home

Day 02, = Fly to Pokhara and trek to Ghandruk Village

Today we fly to Pokhara. The flight takes only 25 minutes while the bus journey takes about 7 hours to get Pokhara and we take one and half hour drive to Birethanti (Alt. 1100 m.) Situated along the Modi River. We turn right after crossing the river (Modi) and aim to reach Ghandruk about 4-5 hours steep hill trial. Where there are good views of Machhapuchre (Fishtail) and Annapurna South for our rights stop in this pretty village.

Day 03, = Ghandruk trek to Chomrong ( 2352 m) 4.30 hours

It takes about 4:30 hours to 5 hours to get to Chomrong which is closer to the south face of Annapurna mountain.

Day 04, = Chomrong trek to Dovan (1952m – 2500 m)

As we leave Chomrong the trail drops down to the Chhomrong khola, and then Khuldighar at 2380m where there was an ACAP check post before and continuous walking to Bambu. The trail climbs through bamboo, then rhododendron forests to Dovan where we spend overnight.

Day 05, = Dovan trek to Deurali ( 2900 m)

The first part of the trail is through the forest involving some steps. There are about 6,7 lodges in Deurali.

Day 06, = Deurali trek to Annapurna base camp and back to Machapuchre Base Camp (2500 – 3700 m)

The Valley begins to look very “Glacial” with its steep sides and eventually we climb the terminal mountains and turn left to begin to feel like we are entering the sanctuary we can leave our things at MBC and hike up to ABC and return back to MBC to stay overnight MBC

Day 07, = MBC hike upto ABC in the morning and back to Himalaya (2900 m)

Day 08, Himalaya to Chomrong (2352 m)

Most part will be in the forest on gradual up and down except the last of to Chomromg is climbing for 1 hour.

Day 09, Chomrong to Tadapani (2600 m)  

Breakfast served in the morning around 7: am. From Chomrong the trail will be on gradual climbing to Gurjung village and last part of climbing will begin after the lunch at Ciprong.

Day 10, Tadapani trek to Ghorepani (2865 m)

Today our walking will be into the forest of rhododendron

Day 11, = Ghorepani trek to Pokhara

We wake up early in the morning and to get sun rise and excellent views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri + other Himalayan ranges, come back to hotel to have a breakfast around 8 o’clock than start walking down to Pokhara.

Day 12, = Pokhara – Sightseeing day in Pokhara and fly to Kathmandu at 4:25 pm

Pokhara an enchanting city nestled in the tranquil valley (827m), is the starting point for many of Nepal’s most popular trekking and rafting destinations. The serenity of Phewa Lake and the magnificence of the fifth-tail summit of Machhapuchhre (6977m) rising behind it creates an ambience of peace and magic. Here are some of the interesting where we will visit during our sightseeing day – International mountain museum, Tibetan refugee camp, Devi’s Fall, Gupteswor cave. And fly to Kathmandu. Stay overnight at Happy Home.
