Have You Ever Thought About Exercising WITH Your Children?

Many people forget that they do not have to exercise alone, and that their kids would probably benefit from exercise too! We pop our young ones in the creche or with a sitter, and dash off to get our exercise in, and we don’t really think about what the consequence of that may be in the long term.

When hen a child hits their teenage years, training, exercise and communication sometimes fall to the wayside. Some parents feel disconnected to their children through these years. Others worry about their health as they increasingly isolate themselves to their bedrooms.

Charlie is a young teenager boy (15yrs old) who loves to swim and jump on the trampoline but didn’t do much in terms of organised sports.

His mum was concerned about his physical and mental health and knew how good it would be for Charlie to start weight training at his age. Charlie started weight training with his dad (and occasionally with mum) each week about 3 months ago.

In this three months he has already made a significant positive impact to his attitude, resilience, and confidence. His mums is happy, both she, and Charlie’s dad are exercising again, Charlie is reconnecting with his parents, and the changes have been overwhelmingly positive.

Jade, who trains them, remarked “This just fills me with joy. As I have seen over the years. Where my clients have brought their kids in and they too. Have make positive changes to their lifestyle”.

Too often as parents, we’re telling our children what to do, rather than showing them. By showing up, and getting shoulder to shoulder with your children in a session, you’re modeling positive, healthy behaviours that they’re more likely to emulate when they’re adults.
