Bairne Track West Head

Our hikers turned up yesterday in spectacular weather to do the 7-10km Bairne and Soldiers Pt track’s off West Head Rd.

It was a pleasant, undulating stroll along a ridge line, and mostly fire track. It was largely uneventful, except for taking off without someone! Jules and I ran back to the start to collect her, only to find out she wasn’t coming!

Jules is our newest hiking group member, and she is taking Kass’s place in Nepal. Kass broke her knee skiing in Japan just a few weeks ago. While we are devastated that we’ll be going without Kass, we are also enjoying getting to know Julie. It is such an exciting adventure for Julie, who hasn’t been away from her kids for more than one night in 9 years. She fitted in easily, and didn’t miss a beat despite Trish’s topics of conversation (a colonoscopy is the one that springs to mind).

The end of the track was a fantastic view over the Basin camping ground, and the dark turquoise waters of Pittwater.

Another notch in our belt, with 10 weeks to go!

Remember to donate to our charity, Seven Women, to support us on our trek in Nepal! Seven women is empowering Nepalese
