8 Tips to achieve a Happy, Healthy Easter!
Easter is one of the most damaging holiday’s of the year, with the misconception that we must receive, give, and consume chocolate and dried fruit to celebrate. We pack our bread with it, buy truck loads of it to share, and come home with equal measures of given truckloads! It then sits in our houses, haunting us until we eat it ALL.
I know that there are a few of you who can let it sit on your shelf for several weeks, but i am not one of them!
With this in mind, and around 10 days until the big day, these are my top tips to achieve a happy, and healthy Easter break!
- If you live in Sydney, don’t go camping: rookie error, that! It almost always rains, and when there is nothing else to do but sit under a tarp, consume win and eat chocolate, that is what you’re going to do! Either head WAYYYYY out from Sydney, or get a house where you can move around a bit!
- Rise above peer pressure: just because everyone is giving chocolate, doesn’t mean you have to! @intoyousfs has heaps of bliss ball ideas, including nut-free, chocolate, and fruit free varieties! You can also wrap grapes in al-foil, buy chocolate dipped strawberries, and substitute toys for the grand prize at the end of a hunt!
Prize idea, these Easter egg plates were a hit!
- MOVE: yes, it is important that you fulfil your religious and familial responsibilities, but that doe not mean that you forget about yourself! Schedule 30min daily to walk, swim, or perform one of these at-home workouts from the IntoYou blog! This Cardio Blitz will have you sweaty!
- Drink lots of water: no matter what you’re eating or drinking, lots of water will help flush it and reduce it’s impact on your system.
- Eat fibre: similar to the point above, fibre works like an internal toothbrush, scrubbing your digestive system clean from all the sticky, damaging, sugary food that you may have consumed. Good fibrous foods are dark leafy greens, legumes, and seeds.
- Sleep: this is important for recovery, and you’ll sleep better if you have exercised during the day.
- De-stress: probably a component of point 1, which was included also because of the Easter Traffic. De stressing will help your hormones stay balanced and your insides stay healthy as a result. Use the time to indulge in your passions, meditate, get a massage, and make time for what makes you HAPPY!!
- Get creative! What about REAL eggs? They’re a nutritious snack, and you can decorate the shell which is FUN for everyone!
I have also included a bunch of bliss ball recipes (below) which you can mix up, wrap up, and give away. You can also play with the covers, using sesame seeds, desiccated coconut, powdered cacao, cocoa, vanilla, or ginger, coffee grinds, and more!
